What is therapy and is it for me? Therapy is a space just for you- a chance to talk with a trained professional about your feelings, challenges, and goals. It’s a place to gain clarity, manage stress, and build tools for a healthier mindset. As a nurse, you spend so much time holding space for others. Therapy gives you the space to process, reflect, and prioritize your own well-being. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need support, it can make a real difference. If you’re curious about whether it’s right for you, consider starting with a session to explore what it could offer. There’s no pressure, and it’s all about what feels best for you.

Are your services specifically designed for nurses? Yes! Nursefully was built specifically for nurses, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges they face. Our therapists are carefully selected for their experience and relationships with nurses, ensuring they truly understand issues like compassion fatigue, moral injury, lived trauma, shift work stress, and work-life balance. Everything we do is tailored to support the physical, emotional, and mental health of nurses at any stage of their careers.

Who can receive therapy through Nursefully? We proudly serve a wide range of nursing professionals at every stage of their careers. Whether you're just starting out or have been in the field for years, we’re here to support you. Our clients include: * Nursing students * Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) * Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) / Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) * Registered Nurses (RNs) * Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs), including Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Nurse Midwives * Nurse Leaders and Nurse Educators, including Nurse Managers, Directors of Nursing, and Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) * Nurses transitioning careers or considering leaving the profession * And many more We also recognize the unique challenges faced by partners and loved ones of nurses. That’s why we’re happy to provide therapy services to the spouses and partners of nurses who may need support navigating the demands of life alongside a nurse. No matter where you are in your nursing journey—or how you’re connected to the nursing world—you’re welcome here.

What’s the point of therapy if the root causes of my stress, like poor staffing ratios and increasing demands, aren’t fixed? We understand that it can feel frustrating to focus on personal solutions when the root causes are systemic. At Nursefully, therapy isn’t about telling you to “fix yourself” or just cope better—it’s about giving you space to process what you’re experiencing and develop strategies that work for you. While we can’t change the system, we can help you protect your mental and emotional health, set boundaries, and prioritize your well-being in a way that feels empowering and gives you back some control.

I'm a nurse- shouldn’t I be able to handle the demands of this job without needing therapy? It’s a common thought, but let’s reframe it: being a nurse means you’re constantly giving your all—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Therapy isn’t about admitting you can’t handle your job; it’s about recognizing that even the strongest, most compassionate caregivers need support too. Nursing comes with unique stressors—long hours, high stakes, and emotional exhaustion—that can take a toll over time. Therapy is a space to process those challenges, strengthen your well-being, and take care of yourself so you can keep showing up for your patients, your loved ones and your life outside of work. Asking for help isn’t a weakness; it’s a strength that ensures you can thrive in the career you’ve worked so hard for.

I'm worried about workplace stigma. Can my employers access my therapy records? No, your therapy records are confidential and cannot be accessed by your employer. Therapy sessions are protected under strict privacy laws like HIPAA, ensuring that your information stays between you and your therapist. The only exceptions involve specific legal requirements, such as cases of imminent danger or court orders, but these are rare and would be discussed with you.

How is Nursefully different from an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offered through my employer? Unlike EAPs, we are an independent organization that exclusively supports nurses. Here’s how we’re different: * Specialized Care for Nurses: We focus on the unique challenges nurses face, like emotional exhaustion, compassion fatigue, and career transitions. * Confidential and Independent: Since we’re not tied to any employer, your privacy is assured, and there’s no risk of your workplace being informed about your participation. You don't even have to tell us where you work. * Insurance-Covered Therapy: While EAPs often provide limited free sessions, our services are covered by insurance, allowing for ongoing support with little to no out-of-pocket costs. * Flexibility and Accessibility: All our sessions are virtual, making it easy to fit therapy into your schedule. We’re here to provide meaningful, short and long-term support tailored to the needs of nurses—not just a quick solution."

What issues can I bring to therapy? Therapy is a space to explore whatever is on your mind—whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for support in navigating life’s challenges. Many nurses seek therapy for stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, anxiety, depression, workplace struggles, or feeling disconnected from their sense of purpose. You might also want to work through personal concerns like relationships, grief, or setting boundaries. Your therapist is here to help you process your experiences and develop tools to manage them. To ensure we provide the best care possible, all clients begin with a brief 15-minute consultation with their assigned therapist. This call helps determine if telehealth is the right fit for your needs. While we strive to support a wide range of concerns, some conditions may require a higher level of care or in-person support that goes beyond what telehealth can effectively provide. If we believe another type of treatment would better serve you, we’ll guide you toward the appropriate resources to ensure you get the best care possible. If you are experiencing active suicidal thoughts or a mental health crisis, please do not wait to schedule an appointment. Immediate support is available. You can call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, go to the nearest emergency room, or reach out to a local crisis service for immediate help. You deserve care right now, and there are people ready to support you.

Can I only see a therapist for nursing related problems? Not at all! While our therapists specialize in understanding the unique challenges nurses face, you’re welcome to bring any concerns to your sessions. Whether it’s work-related stress, personal relationships, anxiety, or anything else affecting your mental health, we’re here to support you as a whole person—not just as a nurse. Your sessions are a safe space to explore whatever is on your mind.

Will I always need therapy? At Nursefully, our goal is to support nurses through their unique challenges, whether it’s work-related stress, compassion fatigue, or personal struggles. Therapy is often a journey toward achieving greater independence and well-being. Our therapists focus on helping you develop the skills and confidence to navigate life’s challenges on your own over time. When you feel ready, we’ll work together to transition to less frequent sessions or conclude therapy, knowing you’re equipped to move forward successfully.

What types of therapy do you offer? We offer individual, couples and group therapy tailored to nurses

How do you pick your therapists? When we built Nursefully, we committed to partnering with therapists who truly understand the unique challenges nurses face. All of our therapists are licensed and experienced, but what sets them apart is their ability to connect on a personal level. Many have direct experience working with healthcare professionals, some are nurses themselves or come from backgrounds where they’ve gained deep insight into the stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue that nurses experience. It’s not just about expertise; it’s about finding people who genuinely love working with nurses, are committed to helping them navigate their world, and understand the value nurses bring to the world. Our goal is to match you with a therapist who doesn’t just listen, but gets it.

What if I don't click with my therapist? We understand how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapist. t’s a key part of the process. If you don’t feel like it’s the right fit, that’s okay! Just let us know, and we’ll work with you to match you with someone who better suits your needs and style. Finding the right connection can take time, and we’re here to make sure you get the support you deserve.

Can’t I just vent to my coworkers or friends instead of seeing a therapist? Talking to coworkers can be comforting, but they’re often dealing with the same stress and may not have the emotional bandwidth to fully support you. Friends and family might listen, but they may not truly understand the unique challenges of nursing. A therapist gives you a judgment-free space to unpack what you're going through and provides real tools to help you cope—not just in the moment, but for the long haul. More than just venting, therapy helps you process, gain clarity, and find real strategies to feel better.

I’ve never been to therapy before. What should I expect? Your first session will involve getting to know you and understanding your concerns. It’s a safe space where you can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. Together, we’ll set goals and develop a plan tailored to your needs.

How are your therapy sessions delivered? All our therapy sessions are conducted virtually. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy and confidentiality. Virtual sessions offer flexibility and convenience, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your home or wherever works best for you.

Can I be anywhere in the world for virtual therapy sessions? Currently, telehealth sessions with Nursefully are only available to clients located in the states where our therapists are licensed to practice. While you can attend sessions from anywhere within those states, we cannot provide services to individuals outside of those areas due to licensing regulations. If you’re planning to travel, please inform your therapist to confirm whether sessions can continue during your time away.

How do I schedule my first session? You can book your first session by [link to booking page], or contact us directly at [email/phone number]. Our team will guide you through the process and match you with a therapist who fits your needs.

Can I refer a colleague to your services? Absolutely! If you know a nurse who might benefit from therapy, feel free to share our contact information or direct them to our website for more details.

Can my family members receive therapy through Nursefully? Currently, Nursefully is designed primarily for nurses, but we also extend our services to spouses and partners. We recognize the unique challenges that nursing can bring to your personal relationships, and we’re here to support both you and your loved ones. By including spouses and partners, we aim to create a stronger foundation of understanding and connection. If your other family members are seeking therapy, we’re happy to recommend resources that may fit their needs.

Do you accept insurance? We accept a variety of insurance plans and are constantly expanding our panel of in-network plans. We also offer out-of-pocket payment options that include a transparent sliding scale based on income range. Contact us at hey@nursefully.com for details about coverage.

What if you don’t accept my insurance? We’re continuously working to expand the insurances we accept. If you have ‘out-of-network’ coverage, you can pay privately, and we’ll provide a detailed invoice or superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Our private pay rate is $150 per session. Sliding scale options are available with proof of income. Please contact us at hey@nursefully.com to discuss your options!

Why isn't therapy available in my state yet? At Nursefully, our goal is to offer mental health services across all 50 states. However, we’ve made the deliberate choice to grow meaningfully and ensure we onboard the right therapists who align with our mission of providing high-quality care for nurses. This thoughtful approach may mean wait times as we expand to new areas. If we’re not yet in your state, please provide your information and location, and we’ll prioritize adding new providers in your state as soon as possible. Your patience supports our commitment to intentional, impactful growth. Thank you for understanding!

Do therapists at Nursefully prescribe medications? Currently, therapists at Nursefully do not prescribe medications. Our focus is on providing psychotherapy and mental health support. However, offering medication management is something we may consider in the future as we expand our services. If you need medication, your therapist can help refer you to a qualified prescriber, such as a psychiatrist or medical provider, to ensure your care is comprehensive and coordinated.

I'm already on medication. Why would I need therapy too? Medication can help manage symptoms, but they don’t address the root cause of stress, trauma, or burnout. Therapy gives you the space to process what you’ve been through, develop coping strategies, and make long-term changes in how you handle the emotional toll of nursing. Think of medication as a life raft—it keeps you afloat. Therapy is learning how to swim so you don’t feel like you’re drowning.
