mindfulshift: a meditation workshop for nurses

Join this six-week workshop series co-led by Kelly Magee, a nurse and meditation teacher, and Carolyn Fulton, a licensed clinical social worker. Kelly brings over 20 years of experience in bedside and administrative hospital roles, and more recently in health technology. She discovered meditation during a challenging time in her nursing career, and it has become a crucial practice that keeps her grounded both personally and professionally.
Kelly and Carolyn are excited to welcome you to this space they've created for nurses to come together to explore meditation and reflect on what comes up when we finally pause and settle. This workshop is grounded in a deep belief that mindfulness isn’t another task to add to your list; it’s a way back to feeling whole again.

Disclaimer: This is not a clinical therapy group. MindfulShift offers nurse- and therapist-informed emotional framing and mindfulness education intended for personal insight and growth. It is not a substitute for mental health treatment.
Who This Workshop is For
MindfulShift is designed for nurses who feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or like life is passing by without their full presence and attention. It can be difficult to talk about the unique challenges of nursing with family and friends who aren’t in the field. This workshop provides a supportive environment where nurses can come together to learn about meditation, share experiences, and gain tools for personal insight and growth. Whether you’re new to meditation or looking to deepen your practice, this series will help you shift from survival mode to presence, compassion, and grounded energy- both on and off the clock.

Meet Kelly:

I’ve been a nurse for over 20 years, primarily caring for people with cancer in hospitals in NYC. I’ve worked as an RN, NP, manager, and director, and now do cancer research at a health tech company. In 2018, I realized that I just didn’t feel like myself and that I was struggling to show up and be present for my patients, colleagues, and loved ones. A meditation studio a block from my apartment became my refuge, and meditation helped me find my inner voice again and actually listen to it. In 2019, I completed Meditation Teacher Training at Three Jewels NYC, where I still volunteer and teach. I’m thrilled to bring together my nursing and meditation experience in this workshop. It’s going to be fun!
Meet Carolyn:
I’m a trained social worker, family therapist, and yoga teacher. I am someone who is passionate about helping health care providers, nurses specifically, learn best strategies for maintaining balance in their careers and the ability to sustain physical, mental, and energetic health throughout their careers. Observing so many patients face physical decline over my 24 years working in oncology and palliative care, in addition to my own aging process and dance background, brought a passion and curiosity in exploring how one can feel spacious and expansive in their physical bodies. Learning about breath and being able to sit in a meditation practice for myself became an important tool in helping me stay grounded in my life both personally and professionally. I look forward to being a presence to you throughout this workshop.
